Talk:Earthlings

From VEG-TV

Jump to: navigation, search

I was overwhelmed. Someone said for the bad to win is necesarry only one thing: the good people to do nothing. We, humans, have conscience, that's why we have responsability for everything grows around us. Treating everything around us like iresponsable children thinking everything is belonging to us. The excuse of meeting meat cause of the trophic chain is exclude. At the origin mankind was veggie, as it was proved by recent discoveries. More than this, we have the inteligence and skills to choose, which an animal doesnt have. Be sure, that any action has a reaction in a oposite direction, ESPECIALLY when is made delibaretly. Soon or later, someone is going to pay the bill, it might be us or the future generation. Please spread this video, is important. congratulations and thanks for these people who made the documentary. A sugestion: in the next documentary you can give also healthy alternatives for food and clothing:). Thaanks again

Why don't you have a version subtitled in English? There are a lot of people that can read English, but can't speak it.

You're from Italy, so you automatically see Italian subtitles. There is of course an English version: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1282796533661048967

Remarkable. I enjoyed this very much. I will buy this DVD because I believe it's message is important. But one thing I will point out is that the video makes distinction between humans and animals. Humans are animals. We are predators. We are the apex predator of most the terresrial realms of this earth. This is how we have evolved. Suffering is an inherrant part of predation. Ask the seal in the jaws of the whale if he is in pain. Life is full of pain and death on every level, it can never be eradicated. Do we consider the pain and suffering we cause cockroaches with our poison bait and with our shoes when they present themselves in our proximity? Live and let live? Laughable! Life feeds on life. It always has on this earth. Don't mistake me. Intentional cruelty is wrong. The question I pose is this: where do we draw the line? What is so different in our minds between the man who smashes a pigs head with a cinder block and crushing a roach with your shoe? One act is cruel, even monstrous, the other is expediant. Do you disagree? But they are both fellow earthlings. What is so compelling about the suffering of one over the other? One deserved at least the cleanest, most "humane" death we can provide before he's butchered, cured, cooked and served. The other just got what was coming to him for being a cockroach. For the vegans out there...can't you here the broccoli screaming?! How many soy plants will never grow because you harvested them as beans to make your tofu? Best wishes on weeding out your own specieism. ---Ronnie

Thank you so much for making this available to watch! --Jason, California

Hi everybody, after watching this nightmare movie (thousand thanks and congratulations to the author and team...), i feel more convinced than ever that the cruelty of men towards animals is the matter of sadism, which is a kind of mental desease . And i can no longer support to be horrified , alone in my place ! Because , to tell the truth, my concern doesn' meet much echo in my circle (of friends/relatives) .

ciao, Patrick

[edit] Thanks for documentary

Thank you for this amazing/disturbing video that changed my life ( diet :) ).
I saw it about a year ago, and it made me re-think the way I look at my diet.
I used to consider myself as a carnivore who cannot live without meat. I am proud to find out the opposite.
I've been vegetarian for an year now, and have to thank the authors of this documentary for that.

[edit] More Subtitles

I'm looking for subtitles in Polish. Anyone know where to get it from?

Nobody tried to create Polish subs, so you can get them nowhere ;)

[edit] Download subtitles in spanish

I downloaded this video for academical porpuses, but then I realized that spanish subtitles are not available, can someone tell me if there's a place where I can get them?

You can get them here - but they are for the extended edition and don't match the version you downloaded.

[edit] Earthlings Part 2

Earthlings does an excellent job of planting a seed, but what I would beg to see next is a sequel teaching the viewer about the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle and really focus now on how to implement change.

I tried to be a vegetarian in college motivated by the more healthful aspects of a meat-free diet rather than the idea that animals could suffer so greatly. I began eating meat again when I found myself thinking perhaps I should be filling up on lean protein rather than pastas, breads and other starchy carb-filled foods. Years later, while reading about Joaquin Phoenix one afternoon, I learned about Earthlings, and watched it in segments over the course of the week that followed. Until this point, I never really thought I would be able to make the connection between the lives/deaths of an animal and what ends up on my plate. Thanks to the incredibly vivid and disturbing imagery of Earthlings, I can't help but to make the connection.

I have always felt that there IS a food chain and it IS natural for us as predators to pray on animals. I can still relate to that way of thinking. What Earthlings taught me, however, is that it isn't necessarily about the fact that animals die for us, but HOW they die, and more importantly, how they live. We are forcing animals to sacrifice quality of life for our own convenience and efficiency and it doesn't have to be that way. Consumption does not HAVE to equal brutalization. But where DOES one draw the line?

I implore the makers of this film to come out with a second film. Give us a sequel showing us the steps that follow rethinking our diets. Show us reasonable, practical choices we can make in our daily lives.

Thank you for Earthlings and thank you in advance for Earthlings 2!

[edit] Humans are not natural carnivores or predators

"But where DOES one draw the line?"

At what you wouldn't want being done to you. That includes being killed.

"I have always felt that there IS a food chain and it IS natural for us as predators to pray on animals."

'Humans Evolved To Be Peaceful, Cooperative And Social Animals, Not Predators http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/38011.php

'Linneaus, who introduced binomial nomenclature (naming plants and animals according to their physical structure) wrote: "Man's structure, external and internal, compared with that of other animals shows that fruit and succulent vegetables constitute his natural food."

Dr. F.A. Pouchet, 19th century author of The Universe, wrote in his Pluralite' de la Race Humaine: "It has been truly said that Man is frugivorous. All the details of his intestinal canal, and above all his dentition, prove it in the most decided manner."

'William C. Roberts, M.D., Professor and Director of the Baylor University Medical Center, and Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Cardiology, stated in this peer-reviewed journal,

Thus, although we think we are one and we act as if we are one, human beings are not natural carnivores. When we kill animals to eat them, they end up killing us because their flesh, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings, who are natural herbivores.[11]

‘There appears to be no threshold of plant-food enrichment or minimization of fat intake beyond which further disease prevention does not occur. These findings suggest that even small intakes of foods of animal origin are associated with significant increases in plasma cholesterol concentrations, which are associated, in turn, with significant increases in chronic degenerative disease mortality rates. - Campbell TC, Junshi C. THE EARTH IS LINKED BY....

In part what seperates humankind from other animals is our capacity for conscience. We can choose our relationship with our fellow earthlings. We can choose to be vegans and have our needs met. If you put several "earthlings" behind a series of curtains without knowledge of who is who, it should make no difference in how you treat them. We live on a planet in the middle of a vast universe with the incomprehensible gift of life and consciousness. Why should any earthling be brought into this world just to have it taken away for the sole purpose of a convenient food source? We are capable of evolving into a higher level of being, and these relationships are part of the key. Were all slave-owners inherently evil? No. It takes evolving and commitment and compassion to sometimes see/seperate right from wrong, and the good in people can prevail. It's important to keep discussing what makes us the same AND unique from other earthlings towards betterment, not dividedness. Animals aren't polluting the earth, destroying the ozone layer..we are a community on one planet. I may not know (if some day) we discover that plants "feel" and "think" and i've been living some sort of hypocritical life by choosing one species to eat and not another.. but i am 100% positive that animals do feel joy, social bondedness and pain. Based on that alone I can live very well with my decisions, and still feel very good about holding flesh-eaters accountable. Do i smack the life out of mosquitos biting me? Yes.Sometimes i brush them off too. Do i try to remember each day to give thanks for being alive? Yes, and sometimes i do this by catching a pesky fly and letting it go. It's a small gesture of thanks to the life force i'm a part of(for a temporary time).Even if the Christian doesn't go to church every week, doesn't mean we should question his overall committment to his faith.Veganism is values-based. For me to eat meat simply because i could "get away with it" would be like committing adultry. It would still be wrong. How do we seperate facts from opinions? The sky is blue -fact or opinion. The holocaust was wrong -fact or opinion. There are different kinds of facts that make up the realities of species. For me it's a fact that the holocaust was wrong. It is also a fact that the animal holocaust is wrong. I'm going to watch " earthlings" now. I haven't seen it yet. John

[edit] Torrent link

To save Traffic, why don't you have a link to a torrent file like:

www.mininova.org/tor/330297

because it's slow...

I watched a bit of this - couldn't follow what pictures of ignorant peasants killing stray dogs in Turkey etc had to do with diet. Vegans have worse life expectancy than meat eaters, even though they might have lower heart disease and related conditions, so there is no health benefit; without meat farming, sheep and cows would all be slaughtered in one go and our countryside would be sterile factory floors of plants smothered in insecticides and fungicides. How many vegetarians actually enjoy food? It is an almost uniquely British and American urban phenomenon because so few such people actually know how to cook or eat. In truly civilised countries like France or Italy it is practically unknown, and incomprehensible.

NON POTRESTE TRADURRE IL SITO ANCHE IN ITALIANO??? ....SAREBBE MOLTO MEGLIO POTER INTERAGIRE SOTTO CERTI PUNTI DI VISTA...GRAZIE MILLE.

EARTHLINGS IS REALITY !!!!

I would like to congratulate the video, and also by the entire production of it, even dying for so many animals that can be transmitted to other people the reality, we are not in 2008 and human progress, or rather we have pq canine, we have to feed the same , Which will have to be so!

Let us stop this, the animals have the right to life, not death! I am vegan, I am happy and love animals and nature ...

This video is shocking, the reality shows, and change has to begin by each of us.

"The hope for the animals of tomorrow is to be found in a human culture to learn rather than to feel it."

hugs to all vegan and vegetarian guided by God, because we are angels sent to earth this unjust, thankless and especista!
